About The Event

This historic park holds an important place in Miami’s history, as it was the only beach designated for African Americans during segregation. It was home to family reunions, dances, and community gatherings. Today, it remains a vital green space, offering recreation while also helping to combat urban heat and the effects of climate change.

This is a two-phase project. In this phase, we’ll be planting native vegetation to protect the dune system, increase biodiversity, and strengthen Miami’s resilience against climate impacts.

A big thank-you to our partner, Seatrees, for their continued support in helping us restore and protect coastal ecosystems like HVKBP.
