Sunny Isles Dune Restoration: Phase I
Join Coastlove as we begin restoring a section of the dune system in Sunny Isles Beach!
Time & Location
Feb 18, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM EST
Sunny Isles Beach, 16501 Collins Ave, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160, USA
About The Event
Dunes are important for coastal systems and communities alike. They provide natural protection against beach erosion and storm surges, all while providing a habitat for many species, including critical nesting habitats for sea turtles.
Phase I of this restoration will be to remove non-native vegetation.
To ensure a smooth and successful experience, please note all volunteers must register in advance to participate in this event. Volunteers will be working in the sand, with hand tools such as shovels and saws; therefore, this event is NOT recommended for young children.
Don't forget to bring your reusable bottle to refill. We will not be handing out bottles of water or cups, but we will have water available!
